Thinking about the Wellbeing of your Soul
Maya shares some useful guidance surrounding the maintenance of our wellbeing, offering some fantastic advice.
When fighting negative thoughts, directing yourself towards solutions can be the best thing to do. However, it is the power of spiritual solutions that is often overlooked, usually discarded for more conventional methods such as therapy, medication, or even suppressing your thoughts. This could help ground you and improve your emotional wellbeing and ability to cope in stressful situations.
Personally, I am not religious, however spiritual wellbeing doesn’t have to mean belief in god or religion, it can mean connecting with your soul and placing trust in higher powers. To me, spiritual wellbeing entails putting your problems into proportion with the universe and what life has to offer, essentially grounding yourself in your reality in order to face your problems. When life throws something negative at you, it can be healthy to look at it as a lesson. This is now my own mantra for when life throws problems at me. Thinking like this can really change your mindset.
Furthermore, another approach can be to distinguish between things that you can control in your life and things you can’t. In your life, this can help you examine stressful situations and relieve yourself of the stress that comes with it. It’s important to focus on the things you can control and the things you can do to change your life or your actions.
You have to train your mind to be stronger than your emotions. Your mind is certainly one of the most important factors which affects your feelings and response to yourself. By controlling what comes out of your mind, you can improve your lifestyle, become healthier, happier and better within yourself. We cannot live in the past, and must instead focus on what’s ahead and how we can make the future better. There will always be many ‘nexts’ and new beginnings, more to life then what you’re living just right now. Whilst it is important to live in the moment and be happy with what you have, it is often quite consoling to think about all the opportunities and memories you will have in your future with a whole life ahead of you.
Reading lifestyle and mindset books can help motivate you and remind you that a bad time in your life is just temporary and that things will be better. These types of books can help improve your connection with yourself, prioritising the care of your soul and your wellbeing. This can be through simple tasks such setting a routine and getting up at the same time each day, drinking herbal teas to feel cleansed inside, or finding the time to meditate and breathe deeply on a daily basis.
Whilst these things may seem small, they can each drastically improve your day make you feel more in touch with who you are as a person and what you enjoy. These things can be ritualistic and make you feel happy that you’re taking care of yourself, which in turn nurtures your soul and wellbeing.
Meditation can be a form of manifestation. Manifestation through your day can be as simple as saying three sentences to yourself each day and really believing them. What do you want to achieve in the short term? What do you want to achieve in the long term? What is it you love about yourself? What is it you want to stop thinking about? Saying these things to yourself may seem insignificant, but it is true that the mind is the most powerful thing, and it will train your mind to actually believe the things that you are saying if you keep repeating them. Furthermore, saying things that you want to achieve will put your wishes out to the universe and the universe will help them come true along with your hard work.
